Nature Center!

Mandeville has a beautiful Nature Center with wooden walkways over the swamp and trails through the woods that go on and on. We love to bring our bug cage and catch critters to examine. On this day, we had two lizards, a snake, and various other strange little critters that Andrew found under rocks. Dylan enjoyed carrying them and "feeding" them with leaves that he stuck through the openings in the cage

It was truly a lovely time, but let's have the truth about the day, shall we? Those woods have some seriously amazing vines hanging from the trees and my inner Jane got to thinking how fun it would be to climb with one. Andrew stood ready with the camera to get pictures of my coolness. Well, the vine broke and my head cushioned my fall. We ended up in the ER with a concussion, amnesia, and a CAT scan. I remember nothing of the 10 minute walk back to the car. Andrew and the girls tell me that I asked what happened every 5 seconds and could not remember anything they told me. Poor Andrew! He had to lead a loopy wife, two bawling girls, and a boy with his cage full of critters out of the thick Louisiana woods... Below is a funny picture taken just after the fall!
