Nighttime at Redondo Beach!

Every night on this trip so far has resulted in at least one kid in soaking wet clothes. 🤷‍♀️

Flagstaff!

We passed through Flagstaff Wednesday evening and got to have dinner with this fine nephew of ours who is working on the NAU campus this summer. We spent our first night ever in the camper van and tents for the kids (sorry, no pictures). I have lots of pictures of Hannah and Dylan on a giant bouncy thing at the KOA, but I have been forbidden to post them. They were like the pied pipers— the little kids would see them on the bouncer and come running to play with them. I kept hearing the kids shouting “Watch this! Watch me!” at them, which made me chuckle remembering how many years I listened to them saying that to us!

Cat Tales (or rather, tails)!

We have the bottle brush, perfect for cleaning those bottles that you just can’t reach with a sponge.

And then there is the feather duster. Use it for fan blades and hard to reach shelves.

Finally, there is the oversized pipe cleaner for cleaning tube-shaped items.

Cousin Quiz Taking and Hanging at the Taos House!

The cousin quiz was taken by everyone (one of the rites of passage for anyone who joins our family for a trip to Taos). Answers to the questions were funny, thoughtful, surprising, and honest. One of my personal favorite questions was an imitation of someone in the family doing something specific. Many participants chose to imitate Dana ordering at a restaurant, Ava chose  to imitate me when it is past my bedtime, and Roland pulled out all the stops to do an impression of Dylan in school. Two hours of laughing came out of the whole thing.

Murder in the Dark!

Look at this pile of bodies! In the end, Dylan (looking pretty innocent in the picture below) murdered us all. It’s kind of nice being the victim, though, because you get to lay on the ground until your carcass is discovered and gaze at the impossible number of stars in the Taos night sky.
