Gifted Education Day!

Today was a very special day for Hannah (and Mason)! In November, they both entered a gifted education essay contest, "Why I am Thankful for Gifted Education". Hannah won second place in the K-5th grade division and Mason won Honorable Mention. Today, Hannah received her certificate on the floor of the House of Representatives while we watched from the gallery. It was Gifted Education Day and we got to watch representatives advocate for gifted education. Later in the day, we got to meet Governor Bill Richardson. It was quite a whirlwind of a day (even Granny came along) and at the end, Hannah had had quite enough of it all, but still, a great reason to skip a day of school! Oh, and in case you are just dying to read those essays, go to www.nmgifted.org and look under the essay winners on the first page. Hannah's is listed under her name as a second place winner in the K-5th grade level. Unfortunately, they listed Mason's essay under one of the North Star gifted teacher's name, Michael Freeman. So, to find hers, look under the K-5th honorable mention section and read the one by "Michael Freemen". (Yes, I assure you, it is really hers...)
