Mason and Hannah both entered the PTA Reflections art contest this year and they both won First Place blue ribbons!! The entry had to be about how they can make a difference in the world. Both entered in the literature category. Hannah wrote about saving the lives of little bugs and Mason wrote about making donations, helping the elderly and helping smaller children. Hannah won First Place in the K-2nd Grade Group, and Mason won First Place in the 3rd-5th Grade Group. The youngest class in their groups! We were awfully proud parents and the girls were surprised and excited! These pictures are of them telling the audience about their projects and the top picture is of them with their principal.

We Have a New Friend!
We are sad to say that one of our Easter bunnies fell victim to the hawk that we mentioned a while back on the blog. The remaining bunny has looked quite lonely out there on his own so we went to get another friend for him. They actually have not met yet because the girls are playing with the new bunny so much that they are not ready to set her free in the yard yet. But soon, the two will meet. In the meantime, we are chasing the hawk out of our yard whenever we see it. Too bad, because it sure is beautiful...

Dylan and the Kitty & Dylan as Entertainer
Up above is Dylan playing with Sunshine, THE hands-down sweetest kitty ever!
Too much ice cream for dessert??? Or was it just the fun of making his sisters laugh that kept Dylan acting like a wild thing for a good 20 minutes or so???

Halloween!
It was a crazy busy day yesterday! We started the day with a storybook costume parade at school. In the afternoon, Dylan (our little chicken) accompanied me back and forth between both girls' class parties. Then, there was trick-or-treating at Dad's extremely spooky office building (too spooky for Dylan's tastes so he and I waited it out in Dad's office). Then, it was dinner and trick-or-treating with cousins. Whew! Mason was Pippi Longstocking (NOT the Wendy's girl), Hannah was Dorothy by day, princess by night, and Dylan was a chicken, which he would not take off all day but was sick of it by night...

Gym Class is SO Much Fun!
Since the girls are both in school the same hours this year, Dylan decided to go get a life of his own. He goes to Gymboree class every week and has a regular playgroup with tots his own age. Sometimes, if his sisters are very lucky, he takes them along to open gym. (They are quite large for the equipment, though...)

PIANO RECITAL
Mason and Hannah had their fall piano recital on Saturday! Hannah played her own version of "Alouetta", which you can hear in the video. Mason played "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" from Phantom of the Opera. Both girls played beautifully, even though their baby brother took it upon himself to go visit them during their performances. We had to give him what he thought was his rightful turn after the recital was over...

Bike Riding!
We admit it--we have been slow to take those training wheels off of Mason's bike! We recently decided that the job had to be done so Andy took her out and it took no time before she was speeding around her school parking lot! The next day, she rode most of the way to her school on her bike (it is all uphill so she pooped out at the end) and all the way home! Yay, Mason! (Hannah also enjoyed her bike but insists that she will not lose those training wheels for a while yet...)
