Taos Weekend!

We had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend in Taos with Granny and Mason and her college friends!

This boy is determined to be naughty. If it isn’t leaving one class on the last day of school to spend that hour in the class of his favorite teacher (and getting caught!), it is sitting on this wall that is clearly not meant to be sat upon because the owners took the time to put pointy rocks in the cement...
Whatever will I do with him? 🙄

We discovered a huge pack of dogs living in the field next to Granny's house. These three were so excited about it that they gathered up some food and binoculars and headed over to feed the pups. They didn't have any luck, though. The dogs are pretty scared of people.

Desert Ridge Honors Assembly!

Last night was the 7th grade Honors Assembly at Desert Ridge. Here’s to this hard working boy and all the others who were there! Another school year is almost in the books. Oh, and the gentleman in the white shirt is only the best gifted language arts teacher ever! The funny thing is that he was Mason's very first gifted teacher ever when she was in second grade before we moved to another school. Now, Dylan has had the privilege of being his student this entire year. When asked what he enjoyed the most in language arts this year, Dylan's answer was "Literally EVERYTHING!". That is as good as it gets!

The Many Uses Of A Python!

A python can be a conversation starting necklace, a hair tie, or even a telescope of sorts.

And Now A Little Music!

I always try to get some sort of video of songs that the kids are playing. Here are all of the Guild audition songs for this year in various stages of readiness. "And Now Let's Handel" is missing two lines of the song that he just skipped right over. Needless to say, I won't ask him to touch the piano to give me a better version since he is FINISHED! (We take what we can get...) If you click on the video, you will see what song it is. I'm having trouble looking at them and knowing which is which. Three songs may sound familiar, as they are carry-overs from last year's audition.

National Piano Guild Audition Day!

I am so proud of this boy! He had his audition for his fifth (and final) year in the National Piano Guild this morning and he did an amazing job! Five years of ten songs, scales, and cadences memorized is a big accomplishment and he could not have done it without his teacher! Three weeks ago, he almost backed out, but Tatyana knew how to fix every little detail that he was struggling with. His hard work, determination, perseverance, and ability to make it to a goal he set for himself five years ago shined today! Excellent work, Dylan!

"You have learned the discipline and concentration necessary to achieve goals. You have learned how to focus and share your talent with adjudicators. You have learned to accept both praise as well as constructive criticism with poise. In essence, you have learned qualities that will be part of your character your entire life."

Happy Easter!

They are pretty big now, but tradition is tradition. I think the Easter Bunny will keep hiding eggs in the yard forever.
