Dylan's Birthday Party!

We just HAD to celebrate this guy's life yesterday so we had a big BBQ with about 40 adults and kids, way too much food, a speed racer jumper, a much better dump truck cake, perfect weather, and a happy little birthday guy. How lucky we are to have such wonderful friends!

Happy Birthday, Dylan!

Happy birthday to sweet baby Dylan, a two year old boy who loves dump trucks, loves to swing, always has a song in his heart, pronounces "thank you" as "shampoo", loves to snuggle, has a silly sense of humor, is trying to be independent, sings "Happy to you" to the perfect happy birthday song tune, loves playing with his sisters, loves reading "Go, Dog, Go!", wants to "go, too" wherever anyone happens to be going, is scared of bugs in the bathtub and especially of "boos" (ghosts, a.k.a. wind blowing his curtains), calls himself "Din-Din", is great company on long morning walks, and reminds us every day of the wonder of little boys! We love you with all of our hearts!

Birthday Practice!

On Monday, we had a small birthday party for Dylan, who turns two on Saturday! We are having a big BBQ on the big day but wanted to have something quieter that he might actually enjoy more with his two buddies, Dylan and Zoe. Here are the pictures. You'll notice that our guy is not smiling in any of them. If you are looking closely, you'll also notice that he is not using his right arm in any of the photos. Turns out that an elbow ligament had moved over his elbow bone while he was playing in the morning and after the party, his doctor had to snap it back into place... So that explains the grumpy face and here's hoping for a better day for him on Saturday. (By the way, that was also a practice dump truck cake. The one for Saturday should look much better...)

We had fun at Granny's pool today! The other Dylan and Zoe were there, too! Our Dylan enjoyed trying out Hannah's old floatie suit but I am learning that nothing keeps them upright at this age other than the arms of a parent! (Thanks for the great photos, Deb!)
