The Wrong Place at the Wrong Time...
Yesterday morning, Dylan was involved in a major accident when Andy and I were on a morning walk. I was pushing Dylan in his stroller when a car (red mini-Cooper) near us stopped at a stop sign and then started to cross the street in front of another car (a silver 4-door luxury sedan) going quite fast (probably 40+). The silver sedan bounced off the mini cooper, plowed into Dylan's stroller and then through a large telephone relay box and cinder block wall. Believe me when I say that we are the luckiest and happiest parents on the planet because Dylan survived. Dylan and I were actually out in the bicycle lane in front of the curb where the telephone workers are standing in the photo. The stroller flew in the air and landed face down on the rocks next to the wall near where the sedan ended up. Dylan was rushed to the pediatric E.R. and had blood tests and a C-T scan which showed that he was just fine other than cuts and bruises on his head and face. We were able to bring him home in the afternoon, and today he is his usual sunny self but is having trouble walking. We are watching that carefully and gut instinct tells us that he is just sore (watch him as he tiptoes around!), but he has an appointment at the doctor first thing Monday morning. Everyone who saw the accident, including Mom and Dad, thought he would not survive. The two cars, the stroller, the telephone box, and the cinder block wall were all totaled. We are the most thankful parents alive! The story made at least two of the local TV news broadcasts as you can watch in the videos for this blog ... and here are links to the news pages: http://kob.com/article/stories/S424990.shtml?cat=516 ; http://www.krqe.com/Global/story.asp?S=8229866
